Mosaic II: This is one of M.C. Escher's marvelous exotic pieces (drawn in 1957) that attests the artist's fascination for tessellation or tiling, a technique of covering the canvas with plane figures that fill it completely with no overlaps and no gaps.

The themes and designs in this image are inspired by the artist's exposure to and interest in Islamic and Moorish art motifs.

It is a trick to turn individual black and white shapes and forms into a solid mass, a mosaic!!!
